This being the 28th year of the shirt draw. Last season saw local company
Mark McGowan Blinds scoop the big prize as well as, Caldwell Wright
claiming the shorts. We had over 170 companies take part in the draw
last season, and we are again hopefully going to reach that number.
On the pitch has been inconsistent yet we are still in the hunt for the play
offs. With promising results against Motherwell, Dundee United, Queens
Park and Partick Thistle demonstrating the team’s ability to compete
against sides from a division above and leaves us with a real belief that we
can mount a serious play-off challenge this second half of the season.
Promotion of local young players has been promising for the future of the
football club, with Lewis Gibson, Jay Burns, Ben Johnstone, Lewis Currie,
Charlie Cowie, Finlay Kennedy, Ross Irving and Niall Rogerson all being
on full-time contracts with the club showing promise in developing young
players, with the above five featuring in the first team.
Off the pitch we have been successful, with our charitable arm picking up Charity of the Year,
this due to the vast work which creates a pathway for young people to be involved in football.
As well as this we have our range of food provisions beginning with Breakfast Club and ending
with our Foodhub which is open every working evening and which has given away over 14,000
items of food in the past year. We have worked across social isolation, new Scots, employability,
Alzheimer’s, mental health and education to ensure we are supporting the region that supports us.
Furthermore, we have invested in gull netting as well as state of the art lasers to keep the ground
as clear of gulls as possible. We also undertook the re-laying of the pitch and installed market
leading technology for our synthetic surface which places our pitch right at the top of Scottish
football, this at a significant cost, yet allows us to continue to develop young players and run our
community projects.
This year promises to be another big one on and off the pitch as we have a whole host of events
and sponsorship opportunities as we look to progress commercially, a successful year bringing in
two new tenants to the arena in Snaq and Just Breathe.
We are hopeful the team can drive on and push us into the promotion playoffs. We are now able
to allow primary age children to design our 3rd kit for the season ahead as we continue to strive
to let local people play a big part in their football club. We are hoping that what we are trying to
achieve is something that you as a company, supporters club, and/or fan can get behind and help
progress this further by entering the shirt draw today.
As always support is hugely appreciated and none of the above would have been possible without
the support of local people and local companies.
